Day 5 - the long run - Trip to North Sumatra
10 hours slowly travel from padang to panyabungan.
This is the equator, at bonjol's
and we stopped at gula bargot production center.
the land sumatra have so many flower and animals which are very beautiful.
Day 6 - Panyabungan to Sipirok
relaxing, and visiting the sapuraga's legend, the hot water is the representation of sapuraga.
The legend belive sapuraga don't want to accept his mother because she's poor.
at sipirok we rest at the aek milas (hot water) to get some bath.
Day 3 - Beach view is the best
We got 2 problems when we want to go to the lake at solok. First, the radiator of our car got very hot because the seal was gone, and the second, one of our tires goes flat.
but luckily after some creativity hacking the radiator, we found a lotek house.. another good food. But this is only for brunch.. not lunch yet.
The best consolation for all our disappointments is the fish barbecue near the city... this is very recommended. As you can see, my aunt feels very full... yummy
We went to air manis beach after lunch, there is some indonesian legend over there, it's called Malin Kundang, it's about the child who forget his mother.
I personally very disappointed about the conservation of this place, it seems they (the Pemda) don't really understand the value of this place, the place is very scenic, the panorama is very beautiful but the site is not very well organized.
we moved to carolina beach after air manis. It's beautiful but i think the place is not very well maintained because the drop of the tourism in Indonesia (i think), the place is a little bit dirty.
But in the way home we stayed a little longer in the mountain area to watch the sunset. It's worth waiting.
Day 2: Bukit tinggi as destination
Bukit tinggi is two or three hours travelling by car from Padang, the city is very beautiful and have mystique characters. In the middle of the city there is a big clock representing the city, it's called the jam gadang (big clock)
if you are looking very careful the clock have some little error at four o'clock, check this photo.
We went shopping at the market near the big clock, and we went to lunch at uni lis, (nasi kapau) but we are very disapointed because the taste is not the same like some years ago.
after some shopping and lunch, we went to the famous ngarai shianok, there's some underground bunker constructed by the japanese at 1942
There is a prison at that bunker, we believed they torture romusha in that bunker, but we don't have evidence to prove that activities.
In the way home, we stopped at the ma' syukur satay house, he is the best satay house in padang panjang. So it's time to eat.
and of course we shop a lot in the way. (like mukena, dress, etc)
Day 1: Padang at first sight
We arrived at padang in the afternoon, it's very hot out there. I feel like I need a good bath. From Minangkabau Airport, we need to travel an half hour by car again because the city is far from the airport.
We stay at Nanguda's house , located at Penggambiran. Because we don't have a car for going to the city, we decided to take the local transportation (local minibus). We payed Rp.2000 every time we get in. The local transport is very fancy, every minibus is modified by the driver, and they are very creative.
Take a look at the last picture, that picture was taken from inside the minibus, they have fancy sound system and the disco lighting is included!!.
After eating a little portion Pariaman satay in the city, we returned to my aunt house, and we take a good rest for the next day.
